<p style="text-align: left">Age 95 of St. Anthony.  Preceded by her husband, decorated LCDR Naval Fighter Pilot, Frank, who was killed in the Battle of Okinawa in May 1945; wonderful sister, Ann Milner and several other siblings. Survived by loving and caring son, Roy B. Quady; sister, Catherine Mlinar. Helen lived in Southern California (Coronado &amp; San Pedro) from 1944 until 2008. She was the second customs inspectress appointed on the West Coast. From 1945 to 1962 she worked at North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego in Administration and from 1962 to 1985 worked for the Department of Customs in Los Angeles, CA. Helen loved the music of her personal friends, Al Hirt and Pete Fountain. She also loved music by Myron Floren and Jo Ann Castle. Special thanks to Shirley Carlson and North Memorial Hospice including Dr. Scott.</p>

<p style="text-align: center"><strong><em>April 22, 1943 ~ May 11, 2012</em></strong></p>
<p>Age 69, of Blaine.  Loving husband, father and grandfather.  One you would want to know, and many did know.  Swany was born April 22, 1943, and passed away May 11, 2012, after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.  Preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Kathryn Swanson.  Survived by his wife, Jan; sister Margaret (Charles) Bujold; daughter Michelle (Peter) Leatherman; son Mark (Jena Lyden) Swanson; grandchildren Justin, Navy and Anna; and numerous nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors.  A teacher and coach for 32 years, Swany taught PhyEd and Outdoor Education at Mounds View High School. Swany judged girls’ gymnastics for many years, and his other passion was his woodworking and cabinetry business.  Swany enjoyed mentoring young people and impacted many lives, even most recently at Extreme Beverage.</p>

<p>Memorial service at Kozlak-Radulovich Blaine Chapel (107th Ave. NE &amp; Hwy. 65), Wednesday, May 16, at 7 PM with visitation beginning at 5 PM.</p>

<p style="text-align: center"><strong><em>March 21st, 1930 ~ April 30th, 2012</em></strong></p>
<p>Age 82, born and raised in Nelson, WI, passed away April 30, 2012 of cancer.  He<br />
attended Deer Creek grade school and graduated from Nelson H.S. in 1947.   A graduate of the University of Wisconsin NROTC program, he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honorary society.  Upon graduation he was commissioned a Marine second lieutenant infantry officer and served in the Korean and Viet Nam wars.  Military honors include the Legion of Merit with Combat Distinguishing Device, Bronze Star with Combat Distinguishing Device for Valor and the Purple Heart. He retired from the Marine Corps as a colonel after 26 years of service.  Subsequently, he received his PhD in Political Science from Arizona State University where he worked as a professor and academic advisor for another 15 years. His first wife Joan McCune of Duluth, MN died in 1998.  He is survived<br />
by his childhood friend and wife, Pat Scharr-Fimian, with whom he spent the last eleven years.  They lived in Scottsdale, AZ, spending their summers in Blaine, MN.  In 2006, they fulfilled their lifelong desire to visit Switzerland, the birthplace of their ancestors.  He is also survived by three children, three step-children, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, a half-sister, Doris Dick and half-brother, John Ambuehl, siblings happily found late in life.</p>
<p><em><strong>Services</strong></em></p>
<p>Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Friday, May 4, 2012 at Kozlak-Radulovich Blaine Chapel, 107<sup>th</sup> Ave NE &amp; Hwy 65.  A visitation will also be at 10 AM Saturday, May 5<sup>th</sup> followed by a Memorial Service 11 am at Cedar United Methodist Church, 17541 Jefferson St NE, Ham Lake MN.</p>
